Dear Diary, last week I also did a few hundred sprites of girls lying on top of each other. The End. Jokes aside, progress is coming along nicely.
But having said that, I was maybe a bit optimistic in my estimate to give all girls their ground attacks this month. The amount is the same as the last update, but last time I had more than a month to create everything, not this time around.
So there is still so much to do, but only 12 days left. But they are coming.

The summary: in this demo, you now can use the grab button to grab your opponent, and while you are holding her, attack with the attack button.

The next Demo will be ready this weekend, or shortly after. After thinking a bit about what approach might be best, I decided to get the next update out when all characters have their new stuff added, instead of releasing it with only a portion of the characters getting new stuff.
So, what will be new in the next update? So, each character has a total of necessary frames. Quite a lot, right? Oh, and that was a lie.

Another thing I want to add for the next demo is a bit of optimization. A lot of you will probably have experienced some stuttering when starting a fight for the first time after loading the game.
This is due to the engine loading texture s necessary for the current animation. That looks kinda like this:. Now, when a character executes a move, all necessary frames need to be loaded, and if those are on different texture s, all of them need to be loaded.
So the first time you execute a move, usually a lot of loading takes place. Once they are loaded, it all runs smoothly.

Basically, every character will get: an animation for a grab attack, an animation on how she is grabbing her opponent, 3 different animations on how she is grabbed these depend on the character who is grabbingan animation for attacking while grabbing, an animation for being attacked while grabbing unique for each opponent.
